Here at amb insurance we are proud to sponsor local charities but this time we wanted to do more\u2026<\/p>\n
So, we launched a re-usable foodbank box on behalf of the Alice Charity, based in Newcastle.<\/p>\n
We have called them ‘Alice Boxes’ and have handed them out to local businesses where they are stored in offices or staff rooms. We wanted to make donating as easy as possible, once the Alice Box is full the business can call the Alice Charity directly and they will come out to collect the food donations. We are hoping the boxes will encourage regular food donations and by taking the need to deliver the goods to the People\u2019s Pantry, donating couldn\u2019t be easier!<\/p>\n
Peter Lycett-Williams, our Operations Director, devised the idea after using a makeshift Amazon box our amb staffroom for the same purpose.<\/p>\n
The Alice Box is a sturdy box able to withstand the weight of many food donations and can be easily replaced if damaged. Information about Alice Charity, ideal food donations and contact details can also be found on the box which makes donating that one bit easier.<\/p>\n
People\u2019s Pantry encourages donations in which a meal can be made from. For example, dried pasta, a tin of tomatoes, sweetcorn and tuna make a quick and simple tuna pasta. Ideally, donations need to be more than simply a tin of beans. Those donating are politely asked they give with a meal plan in mind, much to the appreciation of Alice Charity, People\u2019s Pantry and, of course, those in need of the donations.<\/p>\n
People\u2019s Pantry helps support vulnerable families. It works differently to other foodbanks in that it has no referral system in place, so it\u2019s open every day to any family which needs food.<\/p>\n
