  1. Shop safely amidst the chaos.<\/strong>\u00a0Take your time and try to avoid the busiest areas.<\/li>\n
  2. Buy your presents from reputable sources.<\/strong>\u00a0If it looks dubious, don\u2019t bother.<\/li>\n
  3. Heading into the attic?<\/strong>\u00a0Look out for exposed nails, trailing wires and other hazards.<\/li>\n
  4. If your lights are old,\u00a0consider buying new ones<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Fitting lights?<\/strong>\u00a0Use safe ladders and have another person hold them steady for you.<\/li>\n
  6. Check your outdoor lights<\/strong>. Only use outdoor lights outdoors, and indoor lights indoors.<\/li>\n
  7. Don\u2019t overload electrical circuits.<\/strong>\u00a0There\u2019s a limit for a reason.<\/li>\n
  8. Don\u2019t cover up your home alarm.<\/strong>\u00a0Keep it visible and work around it.<\/li>\n
  9. Don\u2019t step on those Christmas baubles.<\/strong>\u00a0We\u2019ve seen that one before.<\/li>\n
  10. Give your lights a breather<\/strong>\u00a0every now and again.<\/li>\n
  11. Buy a fire-retardant tree<\/strong>\u00a0if you\u2019ve opted for an artificial one.<\/li>\n
  12. Place your tree in a safe place<\/strong>\u00a0away from heat sources or uneven surfaces.<\/li>\n
  13. Use flameless candles<\/strong>\u00a0or make sure flames can\u2019t fall or be reached by children.<\/li>\n
  14. When you go to bed,\u00a0turn the lights off<\/strong>\u2026 all the lights.<\/li>\n
  15. Keep your doors and windows closed and locked\u00a0<\/strong>to avoid would-be thieves.<\/li>\n
  16. Inspect any electrical decorations<\/strong>\u00a0every day or so to root out any defects.<\/li>\n
  17. If snow comes,\u00a0keep your drive and path clear<\/strong>\u00a0for guests.<\/li>\n
  18. Consider\u00a0buying an extinguisher<\/strong>, just in case.<\/li>\n
  19. Don\u2019t entice thieves<\/strong>\u00a0by leaving presents under the tree.<\/li>\n
  20. When you\u2019ve opened them,\u00a0keep clutter to a minimum.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  21. Maintain your kitchen safety<\/strong>\u00a0amidst all the commotion.<\/li>\n
  22. That means:\u00a0don\u2019t leave the Christmas roast unattended<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  23. If you\u2019re going away for Christmas,\u00a0don\u2019t publicise\u00a0<\/strong>it on social media.<\/li>\n
